Fatty and Skinny ...

"Fatty and Skinny went to bed.

Fatty rolled over and Skinny

was dead."

Gosh but Mary1 loved that ditty back in the day. It was so rude when she was seven years old! And when she met John68 for the first time it came back to her in spades. You see John68 is skinny. Very skinny. But not sexy skinny. He is bordering on Auschwitz-skinny. And that is a not-so-nice skinny.

Mary1 is not skinny. She is not a 'Fatty' either. She is built, as per John-ex, like a zebra. If you think of a zebra, it is not a thin species nor is it a fat species. It is a species which is full in its coat though. Looks lovely and full; there are no creases and wrinkles, nor swinging pockets or double anythings. Just fullness. That is how John-ex described Mary1.

Hence Mary1 remembering the ditty! Fondly, of course. She laughed (inside her head) picturing poor John68 as the said 'Skinny'. She would be the 'Fatty" for the sake of the ditty!

John68 has a 'skinny' character, too. Not that substantial. And he is a little at sea regarding his age and stage. Mary1 thinks perhaps as he is single again (post-divorce) that he thinks he is a rocking and rolling 20-something. When, in fact, he is a fifty-something. 'Ew!" to quote Mary1's third born. "Unattractive!'

John68 loves to attend every rock concert, open air concert, concert in the park, stadium-based concert, theatre-based concert, et cetera et cetera. He is a bit of a 'groupy' but he is indiscriminate as to whom he is following! This was the fun part of John68's self-selected age and stage profile.

For a fifty-something, John68 was rather thin on the ground in the opinion department. His skinny character shone through easily in this arena. He was a bit at sea joining in on the various topics Mary1 introduced into the mix over his draught beer (hip and happening beverage) and her gin and tonic (age-appropriate beverage).

Mary1 likes a zebra-like character. A rich, fullness in character is not an unrealistic expectation after half a century of life experiences. So, need less to say, Mary1 and John68 sip their respective beverages alongside other more profile-aligned Johns and Marys.
